1. Name of the course: Translation en-pl, pl-en - simultaneous interpreting module
2. Purpose of the course:
a. to become acquainted with techniques of dealing with the challenges of simultaneous (whispered and booth) interpreting,
b. to become acquainted with the basic research directions in Interpreting Studies
c. to enhance students' linguistic competence in terms of language styles and varieties across different spoken input in a variety of settings
d. to let students practically apply and enhance the broadly understood workshop of a conference interpreter also beyond the technical aspects of the profession
3. Main areas covered during the course:
a. introduction to the landscape of interpreting modes, RSI included, main concepts and terms as well as market demand for interpreting in today's world
b. preparation to simultaneous interpreting (shadowing, paraphrasing, sight translation)
c. simultaneous interpreting techniques
d. quality assessment
e. subject-specific language enhancement
4. Didactic methods used:
a. multimedia presentation with discussion
b. hands-on recorded interpreting with discussion, self-evaluation and peer-assessment with the use of dedicated assessment sheets
c. text and speech analysis
d. language flexibility and vocabulary building exercises
e. peer-assessed speech delivery

The graduate is aware of the challenges, standards, guidelines, ethical and other industry standards, which professional interpreters in the local market and in international institutions face and apply. They have regularly experienced the application of SI techniques and are aware of the need and ways to continue their professional development throughout their career.
